Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 500 gms koonthal(squid)


  • 3 nos onion(chopped)


  • 1 piece ginger (chopped)


  • 2 nos greenchilles(chopped)


  • 3/4 tbsp chillypowder


  • 1/2 tbsp coriander powder


  • 1/4 cups coconut(grated)


  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder


  • 1 pinch garam masala


  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds


  • 200 ml coconut oil


  • 1 sprig curryleaves


  • 1 pinch salt


  • 3 nos garlic (chopped)


  • 3 nos for preparing marinade:greenchillies (crushed)


  • 1 nos ginger piece(1 cm) (crushed)


  • 1 nos cocum(kudampuli) (slit thin)


  • 1 pinch turmeric powder


  • 1 sprig curryleaves


  • 1 tsp salt ,as reqd

Directions

  • Clean the squid and slice into tiny pcs. Rub with salt and wash well. Drain and keep aside.
  • Mix the ingredients for marinade with one teaspoon of oil. Apply this marinade on the squid and keep aside for 30 minutes.
  • Cook the squid in sufficient water for 35 minutes till the water evaporates completely.
  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add chopped onions, ginger, green chillies, garlic and curry leaves.
  • Saute well until the onions turn color.
  • Add chilly powder and coriander powder and saute.
  • Add the cooked squid and fry well.
  • Stir in grated coconut, pepper powder, garam masala and required salt. Saute and remove from fire.
  • Squid roast is ready and serve.
